Veriant Solutions is actively seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Construction & Utility Field Inspector for a top client, to oversee daily field operations, inspect site progress, and ensure safety and quality standards on projects across NYC. In this role, you will serve as a key liaison between contractors, utility inspectors, and NYC project personnel, ensuring work is completed accurately and efficiently.
What You Will Do:
Site Inspection & Quality Control: Perform daily construction monitoring, perform quality control checks, and ensure compliance with project specifications.
Documentation & Surveying: Survey site locations, take precise measurements, capture photos, and produce hand or digital sketches.
Field Coordination: Track crew locations, monitor construction schedules, and attend field meetings.
Utility Oversight: Identify electric and gas infrastructure, and respond to emergency utility outages as needed.
Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively with construction contractors, peer utility inspectors, and NYC project personnel.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: 2+ years in the construction industry. Prior experience in excavation, utility installation, site inspection, or electric/gas infrastructure is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
Ability to read blueprints and evaluate construction schedules.
Proficiency in taking accurate measurements and drafting detailed sketches.
Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Communication & Professionalism: Strong written and verbal communication skills with a positive, solutions-oriented attitude.
Soft Skills: Highly organized, proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Licensing & Travel: Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle required.
Preferred Qualifications (Pluses)
Knowledge of construction cost estimating and NYC construction codes.
Background as a laborer, utility locator, surveyor, or experience in telecom/telephone conduit installation.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
Environment: Primarily outdoor field work, including exposure to varying weather conditions.
Physicality: Requires extensive walking, standing, sitting, and climbing stairs throughout the day.
